Pretty fun

I like the idea of it, the original splatterhouse games were a lot of fun just to watch. I liked the idea of how the game is controlled and your explanation of how you made it work is amazing, using only 3 common commands to make a working game is awesome. Only reason I'm not giving a ten is because after the first boss, is because of bugs, the simple code is hard to debug but it still is buggy. My main problem is after the first boss, there are a bunch of different bugs. The first bug I found is with the hanging corpses, sometimes I could kill them every time without getting hurt, but then other times I couldn't jump back to avoid being hit. The second bug was about half of the times I attempted the second segment, I got stuck on an infinite loop, never encountering a boss and usually not having any enemies to fight, just walking in place for eternity. The problem that got me to quit, whether its a bug or not, is the 2nd boss doesn't seem to respond to the mouse movements. I had the sequence figured out on how to hit him but 3 out of 4 attacks just didnt work and he hit me. There was either a very small window of time to attack or there was a bug. It wasn't consistent and got really annoying.

I really liked the game despite all this. I hope you find a company to hire you soon.

StringAnime responds:

Wow, I have had this game and played it for 4 years and never saw the infinite loop, and I have always been able to kill the Hanging guy and perfect Biggy Man. I take your word for it and I appreciate what points I got from you despite the annoying Glitches you found. Thanks.

I feel bad

I wasn't expecting any real violence in this and spilled my soda when Hansel fell from the sky and splattered, from there all the deaths were funny but wow, I almost ruined an expensive keyboard with a can of TaB.

Game was great, it works very smoothly, it was fun to play, well made, well coded, well everything. The biggest positive was the logical way of doing things, unlike a lot of other point and click games that require random guessing.

The deaths were pretty damn creative too, the axe one was a bit bizzare/extreme, but still mildly fun.

Bated breath for part 2.

makopudding responds:

Thank goodness your keyboard is ok. I almost spilled my soda reading your review. Amazing!

WOW!

I never knew this stuff was that complex, I just add things and hop they turn out right... It helps to have the geometry behind this stuff, I just distort things with the free transform tool. That is very helpful sir.

After you started the flash segment, was the entire thing done in flash? I know the first few images weren't because of the shading gradients but was the other stuff done in flash? That was amazing, I have been struggling with perspectives so this was a great help. You are a master.

Sunshaft responds:

it was made in blender

Hurray

Soundboards for the best game of 08? Lucritive deal sir.

Looking forward to the other ones, its nice you sorted the good ones because it was so boring scanning through the huge directory of them.

Just for the sake of being a dick though, there are about 1,000 soundclips per character, although most of them are the person saying yes/no/help/go or other basic commands in 30 different styles:D

MilkMan268 responds:

Yea there's alot . =D

Awesome!

Where did you find these soundclips? I have never heard him say most of the ones that aren't basic commands or sayings.

Make one for every character and try to get more sound pieces.

Loved it like I love the game.

Biff responds:

If you have the game on steam check your steamapps/common/left 4 dead folder. That's where i got them from.

I enjoyed it

Didn't get very far into it before I quit but if I wasn't so tired I would have kept playing.

Disappointed you weren't a fat kid with a jet pack though. :)

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

Well heres what you do:

Get up next morning and make yourself some coffee made from a walrus and a giraffe. Then you should be able to stay up for at least 7.3 weeks without falling asleep. That should give you enough time to beat the game.

I am a fat kid with a jetpack though.. look at my username! :D

I would have enjoyed a tankmen reference

When you shoot the guy's dick off, maybe he wears a tankman uniform, theres a tankmen logo somewhere, or even an audioclip.

Oh and awesome game. I enjoyed the over the top Rube Goldberg like assassinations, the one where you have to try 20 times and use 100 bullets and then laugh as it all happens like a game of mousetrap.

TheGameHomepage responds:

I never even saw a tankmen episode until some1 commented about this in their review. Now I've watched them all, they rock!

Underdog of the year.

This is the king of underdogs, this game is awsome, and its got alot of low scores man...thats bull dude, this should be top.

Great Game, fun to mess around with on a rainy day.

FreeRiderPete responds:

King of underdogs, huh?
new stamp there, but thanks a lot, I suppose it's good.
and nice you now have something to do on rainy days.
Thanks.

Good potential

Amazingly scripted, but, its a little to difficult, or at least too hard to get started, i spent like 15 minutes playin and after like 5 minutes of walking around, my men would die and i didnt have enough resources to replace them so i went out to get more and died again, and after like 5 deaths it became to boring. But i looked around, if you could make it a little easier at the beginning then i think it has alot of potential.

maciik responds:

Maybe try reducing the difficulty to "low". :)

It's been a long time.
